What a morning in the nursery I had today! I love this time of year , I get to go through all the green houses and see everthing in all different stages of growth. Easter lilies and bulbs plants were getting loaded and ready to go out the door. It seems like just yesterday they were in greenhouse number 8 just pots of soil to the untrained eye! My assistant and I hand selected some of the prettiest bulb gardens, hydrangeas and other flowering plants to bring back to the store with us. We then dressed them up in baskets and bows and got them ready to head from the backroom to the showroom. It's beginning to feel like a holiday again, could Easter be right around the corner??

I will be doing a presention to the ladies of the Brandon Woods Garden Club midday. I thought I would try something new, usually I speak on a topic or present a topic that s been picked by the group. These ladies gave me a option, so I thought I would present what I like when I do flowers for my home! January is a busy month for us in the flower shop to meet with brides. Here are a few tips for brides regarding their wedding flowers. Most important is to set a budget. Where is it most important for you to have flowers. Make a list of who is getting flowers and where you want to put arrangements.Cut out pictures of bouquets/arrangements you like AND ones you don't like (this helps give the designer a feel for YOUR style). If you have found something you love and think it's out of your budget, ask the designer for a less expensive similar flower or a smaller version to get the look you want. Before you leave your consultation be sure to ask how you reserve your date, deposits, delivery and set up.If delivery and set up is required, who will be on site, a delivery person or a designer to insure a smooth event. Lastly, find out how many events the shop will be doing that day, will you be comfortable with being one of two or three events??

Well everyone here we are almost the middle of the month and today we are getting a cold snap! If you are following our 12 days of christmas today is battery operated candle day! (check out Nov 30, 2009 if you haven't been following)

I am heading over to Colonial Heritage today to arrange Christmas greens and thought I would you all a few tips on working keeping your christmas greens fresh. Water, Water, Water, they like to drink. be sure you give them a fresh cut before you put them in a vase or oasis and change the water every day! Keep them away from a heat source and you should be enjoying them through Christmas. Get creative and change them over the next couple of weeks, add some christmas balls or drop by and see what we have in the cooler 50% off the end of the day. Not sure what to do or how to do it we can arrange your christmas greens for you and can add what you like at home!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and just imagine how it will feel when those fresh greens get in your home!

Early day today!!! I'm getting myself ready for Schmidt's Flowers Design Studio to hit the road! This morning I'll be doing a hands on design class at Windsor Meade. The ladies and I always have a fun time so I am, as always, looking forward to our time together! Lots of stuff going on in the store today also, The Blooms That Brighten volunteers will be in this afternoon....we will be celebrating the end of our first year after we get our arrangements done for our clients. We have a little surprise in store for them so I can't wait! Happy Kindness Day!

What a busy Saturday we had after our big nor'easter! Everyone decided to come out and shop. Many took advantage of our fall sale (by the way this is our last week!) and many we're getting a jump on Christmas.

I had hoped to get my flower order in yesterday for Thanksgiving but with Mindy away at her sister's wedding (hope she had fun!) and Dave and Sydney out at Radford visiting Delia and being unusually busy it had to wait until today.
