Funeral Flowers

If you have a funeral in Williamsburg Virginia and are not sure what to do or what to send hopefully a little Schmidt's Flowers history of flowers and funerals will help. Flowers are sent to funeral for a number of reasons. As we know, it is often difficult for us when mourning a death to put our thoughts into words. Flowers are a way to express our love, sympathy and respect visually. They also help to create a a background of warmth and beauty to surround those that are grieving. Spiritually, flowers signify eternity and immortality. In summary, flowers honor the dead and console the living.  Still not sure what to send go to http://www.schmidtsflowers.net/ and pick something that reminds you of your loved one.

Ordering Flowers for the Best Value

Here's a couple tips on ordering flowers. If you are on a tight budget, ask if there are any specials. If you know the person has a vase and likes to arrange the flowers send them a wrapped bouquet. Ask also what looks good in the shop if you are not there to see the flowers. Our staff will always tell you what they like! And lastly, let the designers do what they do best and that is deisign.

Wedding Flowers

January is a busy month for us in the flower shop to meet with brides. Here are a few tips for brides regarding their wedding flowers. Most important is to set a budget. Where is it most important for you to have flowers. Make a list of who is getting flowers and where you want to put arrangements.Cut out pictures of bouquets/arrangements you like AND ones you don't like (this helps give the designer a feel for YOUR style). If you have found something you love and think it's out of your budget, ask the designer for a less expensive similar flower or a smaller version to get the look you want. Before you leave your consultation be sure to ask how you reserve your date, deposits, delivery and set up.If delivery and set up is required, who will be on site, a delivery person or a designer to insure a smooth event. Lastly, find out how many events the shop will be doing that day, will you be comfortable with being one of two or three events??

As we brave through this cold wintery weather remember this is a great time to drop in and pick up some cut flowers and make your home feel like it's spring (even if it is cold outside).

Dave and I had a chance to get out this week and meet with Heather over at The Wine Seller....we are looking forward to partnering with The Wine Seller on some special Valentine's packages....more to follow!
